St. Clair Jr Football & Cheer

Cheer Program

Program Overview

The St. Clair Jr. Cheer program builds confident, spirited athletes through teamwork, discipline, and school-spirit fun. Cheerleaders support our football teams from the sideline every Saturday, and our competitive squad takes it a step further — training routines with stunts, tumbling, and jumps to compete at the October regional championship.

Whether your athlete wants to cheer on the crowd or compete on the mat, our program meets them where they are while teaching real gymnastic and performance fundamentals along the way.

Sideline vs. Competitive Cheer
View Official Age Chart & Divisions Breakdown

Sideline Cheer

Performs cheers, chants, and spirit-building routines at every Saturday football game. Sideline cheer is a great fit for athletes who want to be part of game day energy without the added time commitment of competition training.

Competitive Cheer

Prepares a high-energy choreographed routine featuring stunting, tumbling, and jumps to compete at the October regional championship. Requires additional practice time and consistent attendance for stunt safety.

Roster Sizes: MHSAA limits competition mat size to 16 athletes per floor round. Registration is structured to build balanced squads by age division while maximizing how many athletes get to participate.
Coaches & Volunteers

Our squads are led by dedicated parent volunteers and supported directly by the St. Clair Jr. Football & Cheer Board. Coaches specialize in stunting, tumbling, and routine choreography to give every athlete well-rounded instruction.

Family Volunteer Commitment: Every family completes one 3-hour volunteer shift per child (max 2 shifts per family) during the season. A $250 uncashed hold check is collected per athlete (max 2 per family) and destroyed at season's end once your shift is completed and uniform pieces are returned undamaged.
Practice & Event Schedule
  • Practices Begin: First week of August.
  • Sideline Cheer: Cheers on the sideline at every Saturday football game.
  • Competitive Cheer: Additional practice time for stunt, tumbling, and routine work, with attendance expected due to stunting safety requirements.
  • Competition: October regional championship (date and location shared once confirmed by the league).
Schedule Details: Specific practice locations, times, and the competition schedule will be shared once finalized by the league. Adjustments may occur due to weather or facility availability.
Attendance Matters: Because stunting requires precise teamwork and safety, attendance is mandatory for competitive squad practices. Missing practices may require coaches to modify routine stunt positions for team safety.
